I'd been changing things in BIOS (Only disk stuff nothing drastic, it's a Dell so there's nothing in BIOS that could go wrong anyway.) So basically somewhere along the line of Does it work with the new memory removed or replaced? I have tried without a hard drive and with two other hard drives.

Jonaslc, I would try taking out at replacing the battery on the motherboard as previously suggested.

Any thoughts on this event? Once the computer shut off and then turned back on, it couldn't get pass the Dell Splash screen. Then you can start computer in normal mode. Tried replacing the mother board as well.

It souonds like the pc doesn't like the memory, or it's not installed correctly. It would say "press any key to boot cd..." Then i would press whatever, it would then go through "setting up your hardware configuration" and then it would go black and After changing it to boot the CD drive first, I tried using the Windows restore CD that came with it to fix the problem, but although it recognized the hard drive You click on the button to start a new task and then type explorer.exe this should bring back your desktop.

And since you can go to safemode, you can also view your event logs in the computer management console to see if it logged what ever is causing this black screen. Don’t put dryer up against the casing, don’t want to cook the fan motor!  Anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes should cause light to go solid.
