The device was cheap enough I was willing to take a leap given there's not many alternatives until their "Dell Thunderbolt™ Dock – TB15" is available. I have spent hours on the phone with Dell tech support. Everything works at full wifi strength on both bands as well as with Bluetooth. Though this is leaning me towards going with a 2×2 until it arrives.
I have also played around with the display driver’s settings. For example as of today, the Thunderbolt driver listed has been released for some time but the ‘Last Updated' field is showing September 13. Others found that putting the system in ‘Airplane Mode’ to disable the internal Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapter helped. I also tried using several different HDMI cables.

Regardless of which adapter or external display I use, the colors come out washed out with very poor contrast when I export to the displays. I have used both of these monitors as external displays for several other laptops with no problems.
