I might suggest downloading a 3rd party anti-malware solution, such as Avast! The only way I can turn it off is by pressing and holding the off switch on the laptop but isn't it bad to repeatedly turn your laptop off that way? Most of the times these kind of issues are related with the new "Hybrid Shutdown" (also known as "Fast Startup") feature introduced in Windows 8.
