I covered a lot of ground in my attempts to resolve this, to the point that I actually lost some files to make more room on my HD (it was getting ok so see the "D Ellis HD" (the name of your partition), that appears to be not mounting. Reformat it as Mac OS Extended Journaled or exFAT and you'll be able to use it for larger files.
External Hard Drive doesn't show up on my computer! I am using a Maxtor 80gb model: 4d080h4. the power light is on but the drive does not appear on my Laptop.Please help me Perhaps it was wiped and not formatted. I have had many external drives fail on me, with the internal disk still being good and usable.
