I had put the computer to sleep, but apparently Microsoft wakes it up for updates. The Windows Insider program is supposed to fix problems before Microsoft rolls out its Windows 10 patches more generally, but Microsoft's cumulative update releases haven't been without problems. Long Live Linux!!! You should get the update automatically, but if you want to keep on top of things, head to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update. Kb3194496 Failed On my machine it was 758 megabytes. Had to create new one. But I had left graphics driver in place (lastest one).

All of a sudden, I'm loaded with corrupt files that were not present before the up-grade, and Windows says they cannot fix them. If you used USB2, your time probably would be way faster if you had USB3 available. And thanks for the very detailed information provided, Brian. After about 3 hours, I got the message that not all the corrupt files could be fixed. I downloaded the CAB file but am hesitant to try it. Now has tried it 10 times in the last day.
